To tie a rope halter start by tying 2 regular knots in the middle of the rope.
Continue to tie the rest of the rope halter to complete it.

Next fold the rope over to form a cross shape pull the loop through and pull the knot tight.
Once you have the halter properly positioned on your horse s head take the end rope behind the loop and pull the rope downward and through the loophole.
Don t leave any halter especially a rope halter on your horse while in the pasture.
A rope halter may cut if a horse fights it.

Then extend the 2 ends of the rope and tie a simple overhand knot on the bottom strand and the top strand to form the throat latch.
Hold both large loops and pull both loose ends.
You should now have two loops about 10 inches below the nose knots that will serve as your lead tie loops.
